A Heartwarming Thanksgiving Tradition: Collecting Food to Feed Families
This November, let’s come together to squash hunger and spread gratitude during the Move for Hunger Thanksgiving Food Drive! Running from November 3rd through November 19th, this initiative, organized by Sandhills Moving and Storage, aims to collect non-perishable food items for families in our community, ensuring that no one goes hungry during this important season of giving.
Simple Ways to Contribute and Make a Difference
The process of getting involved is as easy as collecting canned goods or dry food items from your pantry. Donations can be dropped off directly at Sandhills Moving and Storage, located at 1052 N May St., Southern Pines. Their office is open Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM. If you’d prefer to collect at your workplace, you can request a collection box, and they will deliver one to you – making it simple for businesses to join the cause!
Why Food Drives Matter, Especially During the Holidays
As highlighted by organizations like Feeding America, the need for food assistance significantly increases around Thanksgiving. Many families in our area face food insecurity, making contributions to food drives crucial to ensuring everyone enjoys a festive meal. Imagine the impact — every can donated equates to a step towards a more fulfilling Thanksgiving for our less fortunate neighbors.
Inspirational Stories from Past Drives
In past years, community initiatives have highlighted the kindness and generosity found within our neighborhoods. Local stories reveal how past food drives have rallied families, friends, and coworkers to come together, making a direct impact through their collective efforts. Anecdotes shared by volunteers emphasize not only the importance of donating but also the joy of being part of a larger cause that connects individuals across diverse backgrounds.
