On July 5, 2025, a routine traffic stop at Buffalo Wild Wings in Southern Pines turned into a significant police operation resulting in multiple drug-related arrests. The Southern Pines Police Department's Directed Patrol Unit stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle infraction late in the evening, which uncovered a troubling scene. Officers detected the distinct odor of controlled substances emanating from the vehicle, leading them to do a thorough search.
What they discovered was: over 5 grams of cocaine, nearly 30 grams of methamphetamine, and a substantial amount of MDMA, alongside other drugs and $1,288 in cash. Arrested were 41-year-old Christopher Pearson from Gibson and 34-year-old Faneisha Bethea from Fayetteville. Each face a variety of charges, ranging from possession with intent to sell different types of narcotics to maintaining a vehicle for the sale of controlled substances.
